Born May 26, 1998
Grisselda is very helpful around the house. She always does her homework and loves to get good grades on tests. She loves to sing, laugh, and take part in girl-talk with her friends.
Grisselda and her brother, Erlin, came to us in February of 2006. Their family lived in the mountains in a one room structure. There was no running water, no kitchen and no bathroom. They cooked on a fire outside the house, and got their water from a stream. There were 6 children living at the home.
Their father is blind and not able to work. Their mother does not work either. She stays at home to take care of her husband and younger children. The only sources of income for the family are the older sisters who work in the coffee field picking coffee beans.
When Gisselda joined us at Por Los Niños, she had parasites and suffered from severe malnutrition. She responded well to medication and access to clean food. In months, Grisselda became a healthy and happy girl.
Today Grisselda is strong, quiet until you get to know her, and an excellent student. She is becoming a young woman and going through all the changes in attitude that brings along with it. Grisselda is an inseparable friend to Saira and Cinthia.
Update: Grisselda was baptized in March of 2012!
