Born in 2006

Hector is still one of the messiest kids at the village. On really hot and sticky days, when he can't be convinced to shower, he is always willing to take a dive in the pila (the small water cistern where we wash our laundry). Aside from his dust cloud, Hector is an adorable and obedient little boy. He loves riding his new bike.

Bio

Hector and his big brother, Mauricio, came to Por Los Niños in April of 2009. They have 4 older siblings that all live with their mother. Their mother works as a domestic assistant and makes about $80 a month. Hector's father was abusive and eventually abandoned the family.

His mother and other siblings live in a mud and stick home with a dirt floor and a tin roof.  It has one room that barely accommodates three beds. They have no cooking facilities, and their only water source is a community well.  Hector and Mauricio were referred to Por Los Niños by a social worker and family court.

When Hector joined us, he had no existing health problems aside from needing some dental attention. Hector and Mauricio have adjusted well to their new home and friends here at Por Los Niños.
