Volunteer Work Teams PDF Print E-mail

Volunteer Work Teams are an essential part of Por Los Niños in Honduras. We love to bring volunteer teams down to help with the needs of the village, and to give the children an opportunity to meet people from a different culture. Being part of a volunteer work team can enrich your understanding of the lives of the Por Los Niños kids and it allows you to make a tangible contribution to the ongoing work of Por Los Niños in Honduras.

Are you interested in serving with a volunteer work team, but want to know more? Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about participating on a Volunteer Work Team. Feel free to contact us if you would like any more information.

How do I sign up?

Here are the forms you need to sign up for a work team:

Who can be a part of a volunteer work team?

If you have a talent or skill, we can put you to work serving the children. A work team consists of around 12 volunteers. You can form your own group, or join a team that we are putting together.

What do Work Teams do?

From painting and construction to landscaping and a variety other needs – our volunteer work teams do it all. Work teams help us keep our village a safe and beautiful place for our kids to grow, learn and play. Some teams also offer Vacation Bible School or activities for our Children. If we have a specific need in the village we will coordinate with work team leaders to make sure the Work Team is equipped with the right people to get the job done on time and with lots of love.

When do Work Team projects usually happen?

Most teams come in March, June, September, and November when temperatures are more tolerable. Other dates can be arranged based on the needs of the Por Los Niños Village and the availability of the Work Team.

How much does it cost?

The ultimate expense of participating on a work team is $895.00 plus the actual cost of airfare.  The $895.00 pays for in country lodging, food, incidentals, round-trip transportation from airport in Tegucigalpa to Catacamas, and hopefully help fund the project of your choice. These guidelines are subject to change due to length of trip and the nature of the team's project.

How long is the average Work Team trip?

Most Work Teams are here for 8-10 days. Other lengths of stay could be arranged depending on the project your Volunteer Work Team selects.

Can I bring anything extra for the Por Los Niños village?

Volunteer Work team members may be asked to deliver supplies from the USA as part of their checked baggage assuming there isn't an additional fee and would be accepted by the airlines.

How do I get my church and family involved?

Getting children's classes, ladies' classes, teen groups, and other members involved in donating household supplies is a great way to get the whole church in on the mission experience. We are always in need of an inventory of certain basic supplies. You can find out our current needs at the Por Los Niños village by contacting us via email or phone.

We suggest linking to the home page of this website from your own blogs and church websites to make your friends and family aware of the work here in Honduras.
