| Who Are We? Family Life Missions (FLM) has been a longstanding work based in Catacamas Honduras. We operate the Por Los Niños Children’s Homes in one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere. In Honduras, the average family has about four children and the age of the population at large is fifteen years old. In Honduras, around 50 percent of households live in poverty, and 30 percent in extreme poverty. Most of the poor live in rural areas where over 80% live without clean water or sanitary facilities. Education is also a factor in Honduras as 83% of the population do not receive more than a third grade education. Despite not having many material things, the Hondurans are warm, friendly, and generous. In fact, many of us would do well to learn from the Honduran people and have their spirit of thankfulness and generosity. |
