Saira Benitez

Saira is learning to help more in the house. She is helping with the younger girls in the house, but she
enjoys helping in the kitchen more. There are 3 other girls in the house that are close to her age. They have
bonded more in the last several months.
Saira Benitez - Bio
Saira was 6 years old when she came to PLN. She was anemic and had parasites when she first entered
the home. She was on medication to take care of both issues. Saira is the sister of Sinia who currently
lives in PLN III. Saira was just a baby when father died of a snake bite. Her father was a preacher in the
mountains. Their mother moved to Catacamas after the father’s death and attempted to raise all 8
children. She was unable to take care of all of them. She left the 7 youngest children in the care of the
oldest daughter, which at the time was only 16, and went to the United States. The mother has not been
back since. Saira’s oldest sister is still caring for two of her brothers and one sister.
Saira had never attended school before coming to PLN but is now doing well in school. She is a very smart
little girl. She has an outgoing personality and smiles all the time. She loves to play dress up and play with
dolls.
