Rosita Matute
Rosita is a beautiful little girl. Bessy, Rosita’s mother, was 16 when she got pregnant with Rosita. Rosita’s
father was 32. Her father was not interested in caring for her or being a part of her life. Bessy did not have
a place to live. She moved from one house to another over the last few years. She lived with relatives, but
they did not stay at one place for very long. Bessy was not able to provide for Rosita and did not have any
family members that would help her. Upon admittance to Por Los Niños, Rosita was 17 months old and
weighed only 19 pounds. She had bronchitis. She had to have daily breathing treatments. She was also
anemic and had many parasites and severe malnutrition.
Today, Rosita is very happy and loves to run and play. She is starting to say a few words. All of the older
kids want to help take care of her.
