Riccy Seron
Riccy entered Por Los Niños III in October 1999 at age 2. Riccy was brought to Por Los Niños by her 66
year old father and an older sister who had been providing her care. Riccy’s father was in poor health and
had no resources to provide for Riccy. Riccy’s birth mother, who was an alcoholic, failed to care for her and
left her with her elder sister, Elda. Elda, who lived in extreme poverty with 4 children of her own, tried to
care for Riccy until she was struck with a serious illness. When she realized that she could no longer care
for Riccy, Elda turned to Por Los Niños for assistance. The love of this woman for the child was very evident
by her actions and the interaction between them. Upon admission to the home Riccy suffered from
malnutrition, parasites and an intestinal infection. Her social development appeared to be normal.
Riccy’s father still visits her often. Riccy has always been a little spoiled by the older children in the home.
They have a close bond. Riccy is very talkative and loves to play. She is very energetic and has a bright
smile
