Emelina Martines
Emelina came to PLN in 1996 after her release from the hospital in Jutiapa. Abandoned by her parents, a
medical team visiting her village, Nombre Dulce de Culmí, discovered her near death and took her to the
hospital. Once the hospital released her, she had nowhere to go. How thankful we are that PLN had room
for her. Emelina is a Pech Indian and had to learn Spanish upon coming to PLN. Today, Emelina is a
beautiful young lady. She is shy until she gets to know you. She works hard in school and has a bright
future.
