Carmen Barahona - Bio
Carmen entered PLN II in February of 1996. Sadly, Carmen’s mother was abandon by her father before
Carmen’s birth. This left her mother struggling to support her three children on $40 per month. Because of
the families extreme poverty Carmen was often left with her grandmother. Her grandmother was not able
to properly care for her because of severe sickness. At this time the family turned to Por Los Niños for
assistance. Upon admission to the home Carmen suffered from Grade I malnutrition, parasites, and
dysentery. Today, we can see she has grown by leaps and bounds as Carmen is very tall for her age. She
gets along well with the other kids of the village and loves to tell jokes!
