Born October 1, 1997
Alonso Reyes
Alonso came to Por Los Niños in July of 2000 at age 2 ½.  He had only known poverty and hunger in his
young life. He was abandoned by his father. His mother struggled to survive, but could not feed Alonso and
his five siblings on her small salary working as a wash woman. The family lived with Alonso’s grandmother
in a hut made of planks of wood. Upon admittance to PLN, Alonso suffered from grade I malnutrition,
parasites, anemia and hepatitis. He responded well to medical treatment. Today Alonso lives at PLN III
and is a happy child with a bright smile.
